Description

The Royal Netherlands Army issue this monster of a pack for their troops to give a rough bashing. Another well constructed piece of kit from the Dutch that should last years of abuse. Much like the British Army PLCE bergen, this features a large main compartment, buckle-down lid with extra storage and two side pouches which are zipped on. The labels for the pack suggest they have a capacity of 60 litres. Though, our own measurements of the pack suggest that you can likely get closer to 70L (before even adding 10L per side pouch!). More gear can be carried with the PALS webbing and cinch straps on the outside.

These packs are the military version of the Lowe® Alpine Sting packs just made in DPM camouflage. As an upgrade from its woodland predecessor, the DPM pack is lighter and more comfortable than the older packs. It features adjustable lumbar support for fitting the pack to the height of the wearer. Also, all contact points are reasonably padded for a comfortable journey.

Now, onto the side pouches which require a complete discussion on their own. As mentioned, these pouches are attached to the main compartment via two zips on each pouch. You can fasten the remaining zips on the main compartment to create a slimline pack if you don't need the additional storage. The detached pouches can then be zipped together and worn as a small day pack.

An aluminium frame is inserted into the back to help support heavy loads. Also on the back are the shoulder straps which are adjustable from the top and bottom. The waist strap can have the length adjusted around the large buckle. Get into some serious hiking and hunting with this surplus pack from the Dutch Army!

Great hiking Rucksack

The Rucksack was in great condition. Can fit a large sleeping bag and all the gear I need, I was also able to fit a couple of other pouches using the MOLLI system.

Unfortunately one of the side pouches was worse for wear, zipper was broken and inside lining was really torn up

Very Grunty Pack

A really good pack! Have taken this out a few times deerstalking and it has not let me down!, strong zippers, plenty of room and all strappings and webbing areas are really practical, I paired it with the DPM rain cover and it's bloody awesome in wet weather! I have biffed it on the ground, rolled through bush, dragged it through rivers, chucked meat in it...great purchase, highly recommend!! 5 Stars!!

Best Pack I Have Ever Seen.

This thing is huge, massive main compartment and the two side pouches feel really big,
but when pouches removed and sides zipped down, and the lid clipped to the second set of snapbuckles, it looks like a 40 litre pack and feels really light and tight when empty.
The material is much heavier than packs I have seen at hiking stores, seems tough.
Only had one part missing, the female strap on chest, and if found a replacement while removing the pouch shoulderstraps for weight lol
Only had a little scuff on bottom, a little tear in a side zip, and the drawstring had no toggle, but the camo looks new and unfaded.
A damn good buy, very happy, much recommended.

Glad i brought his pack, very capable, nice and simple bag with no compartments or internal pockets to get in the way, can fit two 30l pvc drybags side by side in the main compartment, with a little extra room on top for food etc. the side pockets between the main pack and the zip on side pouches are suitable enough to carry a hatchet and a bow saw, with the compression strap able to hold them tight against the pack.

The side pouches themselves when zipped together make a decent sized 2 compartment day pack, even the main ruck by itself is a decent pack by its self.

the only complaint i have about this pack is with the side pouches fitted it is quite a wide pack, which could be difficult when traveling through dense bush or tight space, otherwise its a fantastic pack and i look forward to getting some more use in with it, the couple times i have been out it has performed superbly, both in comfort and space that it has on offer.

Hey guys, you need to change your “features” list regarding this pack, it does not have an internal separation between main and sleeping bag compartments within pack as stated,it does not have an external lower zipped compartment for sleeping bag etc as stated, it is not supplied with two shoulder straps per “side day pack” as shown within pack images.
Having said the above it looks to be a super versatile pack for my needs, I’m looking forward to thrashing it over the coming months and again will write a review for you from a kiwi hunters point of view 👍

Thanks Shane, the listing details have been updated. New arrivals sometimes catch us out with - the hazards of dealing in surplus.
