Description
The current national flag of Cyprus became adopted in 1960 after a international agreement was reached to make Cyprus an independent state. It was designed by a Turkish school teacher as a very neutral flag to help unify and cool down the internal disputes of Cyprus. White being the main colour for peace, and olive branches being extended below an image of the island.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
