Description

Jolly good then, it's the 1968 pattern British DPM smock! Commonly referred to as the '68 Patt, this thing has been around a while and maybe seen or done some bad stuff. You what? Upgraded in the 80's, the 68 Patt has had plenty of time to be manufactured by a variety of people, for a variety of people and configured for specialty units. This smock is the generic ''combat smock''. Good-o!

This combat smock has two sets of flat pockets to store most of your bits but if that's not enough, one to the shoulder and one interior to the back. There is also a para-style flap that fastens to the opposite side of the jacket and stops it riding up. The draw string waist and bottom stop cold drafts moving upwards and has thick, lined cotton construction to keep you warm.

Now in classic oldschool DPM fashion, the colouration as a batch are all over the show. Completely discombobulated, some would say. Frog greens, banana yellows, and hard outlines to pattern swaths, it's bloody bonkers. But they are a bloody good show for an old chap so as always with aging surplus, pick them up when you can!

British 68 Pattern DPM Combat Smock

    In one word - Fantastic!

Fantastic fit, Fantastic design, Fantastic pattern - just a Fantastic smock

I am 167cm tall, 105cm chest and 75 kg - the Large (105cm/170cm) fit perfectly.

There was a strong army surplus smell about it. Washed it, soaked it for 3 days, and washed it again - the worst of the smell has definitely gone.

    Pre-1985 did it damn good.

Heavy, comfortable, an instant favourite. The lining and cotton fabric make it so much more comfy and breathable to wear, it's much nicer feeling than some of the polycotton blend surplus I've bought. Some light fraying on the hems of the one that I ordered but for a jacket that's minimum 40 years old, in great condition.
