Description
This flag was originally designed when a New Zealand ship was seized in Australia for not flying a national flag (New Zealand was not a colony yet but was not allowed to fly British colours). The flag was designed in 1834 and voted on by 25 Maori chiefs. In 2009 it was proposed as one of four designs for an official Maori flag.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
