Description
Ghana adopted its flag in 1957 and was readopted later in 1966 after the failure of the Union of African States. The flag carried on the trend of pan-African colours. The red represents the blood of those who died fighting for independence from Great Britain. The gold represents the mineral resources of the country and the green represents the country's natural wealth. The black star is the symbol of African emancipation.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
