Description
Officially adopted in 1966 on the very first day of Barbados independence, their flag is quite a sporty looking number! Two bands of blue and one of yellow with a broken trident in the centre. The trident symbol originated from Barbados' colonial badge - this is significant as on that Britannia is holding the trident. This is deliberately shown on the current flag as a symbolic break from its status as a colony.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
